چکیده

Introduction Computerized tomography is an essential element of the early diagnostic stages trauma care for hemodynamically stable patients. However, there are inherent challenges and risks associated with intra-hospital transport critically injured patients to radiology suite during scanning process itself. We examined frequency nature adverse events computerized among Methods This a retrospective cohort study event in adult (>18 years old) who underwent emergent tomographic scan following evaluation bay over 22-month period were either admitted intensive unit or operating room post tomography. Data was abstracted from hospital's registry chart review electronic medical records. The patient phases recorded. Multivariable logistic regression performed assess impact on 7-day in-hospital mortality. Results Of 526 period, 17.3% (91/526) experienced one more event. most common hypotension n = 50 (9.5%), hypertension 18 (3.4%), initiation vasopressors 11 (2.1%) vomiting 8 (1.5%). One required re-intubation endotracheal tube dislodgement intubation hypoxia post-sedation agitation. Patient factors independently mechanical ventilation blood product administration. When adjusted injury severity score age, at increased odds death (odds ratio: 2.2, 95% confidence interval: 1.11–4.36) compared those did not experience Conclusion Adverse occur frequently undergoing may significantly clinical outcomes. provides important information guide system process-level improvements including optimized designs built environment safety-informed protocols high-risk

The Canadian Adverse Events Study: the incidence of adverse events among hospital patients in Canada.

BACKGROUND Research into adverse events (AEs) has highlighted the need to improve patient safety. AEs are unintended injuries or complications resulting in death, disability or prolonged hospital stay that arise from health care management. We estimated the incidence of AEs among patients in Canadian acute care hospitals. METHODS We randomly selected 1 teaching, 1 large community and 2 small ...

Incomplete Revascularization Is Associated With an Increased Risk for Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events Among Patients Undergoing Noncardiac Surgery.

OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to determine whether incomplete revascularization is associated with a higher risk for major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) and myocardial infarction (MI) among patients undergoing noncardiac surgery. BACKGROUND Patients with coronary artery disease and prior percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) frequently undergo noncardiac surgery. These patien...
